ABOUT US

Right now, there is a historic opportunity to significantly reduce toxics exposure in Canada. The two main pieces of legislation with the greatest impact on environmental and human exposure to toxics—the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA) and the Pest Control Products Act (PCPA)—are now scheduled for review.

In response to this historic opportunity, some of Canada’s leading organizations on the issue of toxics have come together to form the Coalition for Action on Toxics (CAT).

This funder-NGO collaborative brings together passionate experts, researchers, and representatives from health and environmental NGOs with a shared belief that all Canadians deserve an equal chance to live a healthy life in a healthy environment. By pooling our resources and presenting a coordinated strategy, we can reduce toxic exposure to protect our environment, wildlife, and human health for generations.

Through a highly targeted initiative, the Coalition will challenge the threat that toxic contaminants currently pose to the health of people and the environment.

Coalition for Action on Toxics is a project on MakeWay's shared platform, which provides operational supports, governance, and charitable expertise for changemakers. The shared platform enables more time and money to go towards achieving greater impact. MakeWay is a national charity that builds partnerships and solutions to help nature and communities thrive together.
